Social Media

Social media is a huge part of today's world.  Young children as well as adults are continuously posting statuses and pictures for the whole world to see.  While social media does have its benefits, it also has many negative aspects to it.  For one, colleges admissions offices and potential job interviewers often use your social media accounts to do background checks and find out details about you that you may not want them to know.  Sometimes, these things found on social media can be deal breakers, even if they were thinking about accepting or hiring you.  The best way to avoid this awful situation is to watch what you post on social media.  Think before you post.  Would what you say or do potentially keep you from being a desirable employee?  If so, do not post it!

For My Future...

Personally, I do not want to be kept from going to my dream college or getting the perfect job simply because I posted something stupid on the internet.  For this reason, I am going to be very careful as to what I say and do on the internet.  My future is extremely important to me and I intend to do everything I can to get to the place I want to be.

Videos I watched a few videos to start learning about typography. Although they weren't always the most exciting, I did learn a lot that I didn't even realize I needed to know. I learned about how critical fonts can be in getting a message across and how they are often the first impression that a consumer gets of a product. I then started to learn a lot about the technical side of typography. I learned that bracketed serifs are curved whereas unbracketed serifs are sharper. I learned what type families are and how you can properly use them to their full potential. I learned that kerning is the adjustment of space between two letters, and tracking is the overall amount of space applied within a body of text. ONW Procedure Video

My first video project of my sophomore year was creating a video that showed how to go through a basic procedure at ONW. My group decided to show how to get a pass and go to the restroom. Initially, we were going to show what not to do as well as what you should do, but I decided to cut that out of my edit in order to make the video shorter. We had to start the process with coming up with a concept for the video. Luckily, we came up with the idea of getting a pass and going to the restroom fairly quickly. Once we did that, I wrote the script and the other group members created the storyboard. We were supposed to start filming the next day, but we got faulty equipment so we couldn't start until the next day. As far as our cast list, we just used the people in our group as actors in the video so that we wouldn't have to disturb any other groups or classes. My 10 Strengths Animation

Process For this project we had to come up with ten strengths that we possess. The ten that I came up with are  writing, honesty, loyalty, logical, intellectual, creative, patient, helpful, supportive, and humorous. I had to ask some friends to help me come up with some of them, which was very helpful. After we came up with these strengths, we had to find a photo to use as a background for our animation. I chose a large, old library because I love books and antiques. We then had to arrange our words on the background using different layers. In order to make them look pleasing, we had to experiment with fonts, sizes, and colors. Finally, we got to the animation part. unlike the last few times, we used the video option in photoshop to animate this particular project. We used various tools availible to us to make the words move and come into the screen at different times.
